LIGHT, FROM BANANA TREES
What if the paper illuminating your room came from what farmers usually throw away?
In a quiet corner of Ubud, Bali, Japanese artisan Kiyoshi Naruse discovered something extraordinary in 1998. While others saw waste in discarded banana stems, he saw possibility.
Today, at Greenman Banana Paper Studio (@greenman_bananapaper_studio), those forgotten stems become something beautiful. Each sheet is crafted entirely by hand, transformed into soft lampshades that cast warm light, elegant partitions that divide spaces, and wall hangings that tell stories.
Interior designers around the world have fallen in love with these pieces. There’s something about knowing your lampshade once swayed in a tropical breeze that changes how you see the light it gives.
At 4P’s, we chose their lampshades not just for their beauty, but for what they represent, the quiet happiness that happens when craft meets care, when waste becomes wonder.
