The situation
As the SCM Manager for the India market, you will be responsible for overseeing the sourcing, procurement, and supply chain operations for both food and non-food items in the country. You will play a pivotal role in supporting Pizza 4P’s market entry and expansion in India, with a special focus on ensuring efficient supply chain processes for the establishment of a new cheese factory and other production sites. You will report to the SCM Director based in Vietnam, while maintaining a close working relationship with the Country Manager in India. This position requires strong project management skills to ensure successful implementation and operational excellence across the supply chain.
The deliverables
Sourcing & Procurement:
- Lead the sourcing and purchasing functions for all food and non-food items required for the India market, including identifying reliable suppliers and negotiating favorable terms as well as ensuring the successful delivery.
- Develop and manage relationships with local and international suppliers to secure high-quality ingredients, materials, and equipment needed for Pizza 4P’s operations in India.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local regulations and quality standards related to food sourcing and non-food product procurement.
Optimize the supply base, ensuring cost-effective and sustainable sourcing strategies.
Supply Chain Management:
- Oversee the end-to-end supply chain process, ensuring timely deliveries of goods and services to meet operational requirements.
- Manage inventory levels and maintain efficient supply chain logistics to ensure smooth operations.
- Collaborate with the operations team to align supply chain strategies with business needs.
Project Management – Cheese Factory/ Production sites Opening:
- Lead the sourcing and procurement activities supporting the opening of a new factory, ensuring all resources, equipment, and materials are acquired on time and within budget.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including production, logistics, and local authorities, to ensure the timely launch of the factory.
Develop project timelines, track progress, and manage risks to ensure the successful opening of the factory.
Collaboration & Reporting:
- Collaborate closely with the SCM Director (Vietnam) to ensure alignment with the global supply chain strategy, standards, and best practices.
- Maintain regular communication with the Country Manager, Operation Area Manager in India to update on project progress, supply chain performance, and any issues requiring escalation.
- Prepare regular reports on supply chain metrics, cost-saving initiatives, inventory status, and procurement activities.
Cost Management & Efficiency:
- Monitor procurement and supply chain costs, implementing strategies to optimize efficiency and reduce costs without compromising quality.
Implement and maintain effective cost control measures for both food and non-food products in the India market.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to streamline supply chain activities.
- Stay abreast of market trends, supplier innovations, and emerging technologies to improve the overall performance of the supply chain.
Who you are?
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years in supply chain management, with significant experience in sourcing and procurement within the food industry. Experience working in India or with Indian suppliers is highly desirable.
- Project Management: Proven experience in managing large-scale projects, especially in the manufacturing or food industry, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
Skills:
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage supplier relationships.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work in a cross-functional and international team.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations, quality standards, and supply chain best practices.
- Proficient in supply chain software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Languages: Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of Hindi or other local languages in India is an advantage.
